About Us
Dr. Irwin practiced as the Clinic Director of an outpatient sports specific rehabilitation clinic in Suwanee, GA, for several years before opening Pro Performance Therapy in the Spring of 2007, which now consists of four offices in the north metro Atlanta area. His practice specializes in the care of patients with knee, and shoulder injuries. His patients include high school, minor league, and major league baseball players, in addition to college and professional tennis players. As an educator, Dr. Irwin serves as a member of the Clinical Education Advisory Committee at North Georgia College and State University, and has served as a guest lecturer at this school, Georgia State Univeristy, and Emory University. Dr. Irwin has been a clinical instructor to students from USC, Duke, Emory, Columbia, GSU, and NGCSU. Dr. Irwin lectures nationally to medical professionals through separate continuing education courses on the shoulder and elbow, low back, and knee. He has published several chapters and case studies in physical therapy text books edited by Dr. Bob Donatelli and his father, Dr. Scot Irwin. Jake is noted for coining the term “kinesiophylic,” meaning “motion-loving” to describe an attribute of synovial joints that is fundamental to their treatment in physical therapy.
